Final Score: D.C. 0 - Kansas City 4
Kansas City, KS (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Wizards opened their 2010 Major League Soccer season with a dominating 4-0 victory over D.C. United at CommunityAmerica BallPark on Saturday night.
The Wizards used a balanced attack, with four different goal scorers, to embarrass former coach Curt Onalfo as his United club also opened its 2010 season.
Kei Kamara opened the scoring inside 10 minutes on a rebound goal after United goalkeeper Troy Perkins made the initial save on Ryan Smith.
The home side doubled its advantage 10 minutes before the break when team captain Davy Arnaud fired from the top of the penalty area into the far corner.
K.C. made it 3-0 in the 54th minute when Perkins pushed away a Kamara cross, only to have Smith pound home the rebound.
Jack Jewsbury converted a penalty kick after United defender Dejan Jakovic was flagged for a handball in the box 11 minutes from time to close out the scoring.
