MLS Game Summary - FC Dallas at New England

Final Score: FC Dallas 1 - New England 1

Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Rookie Zack Schilawski scored his fourth goal of the year, Preston Burpo made nine saves and New England tied FC Dallas 1-1 on Saturday at Gillette Stadium despite having two players ejected.

Schilawski scored late the opening half, but Kheli Dube and Joseph Niouky were both sent off in a 16-minute stretch early in the second half of a match that featured 12 cards.

Atiba Harris scored in the 67th for Dallas (0-1-4), but Burpo made a few late saves and was helped by the crossbar twice as New England (2-3-1) secured the draw.

Dallas controlled the first 40 minutes of the match, with Harris denied at the right post by Preston Burpo, Dax McCarty unable to find the target from close range, and Daniel Hernandez and Brek Shea also unable to solve Burpo.

New England's Schilawski then hit the post in the 40th from a couple yards out and followed with the opener thanks to a mistake by Dallas goalie Dario Sala.

Sala went to the edge of the penalty area to play the ball, but it didn't roll inside the box. Instead of using his feet, Sala tried to shield Kheli Dube off the ball, but he got around Sala and passed the ball off the end line.

Schilawski, who scored a hat trick in New England's 4-1 win over Toronto FC, just directed the ball into an empty net from six yards for his fourth goal of the season.

Dallas striker Jeff Cunningham had the best chance in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but he was unable to beat Burpo, who dove to his left to make the stop.

Dube was sent off in the 56th, and Harris followed with a header Burpo pushed wide with a one-handed save in the 58th as Dallas started attack even more.

Harris tied the match in the 67th off a free kick from Dax McCarty, who drove the ball into the middle of the area from the left side. Harris sneaked around Darrius Barnes and headed home for his second goal of the season.

New England lost Niouky in the 72nd after a hard foul on Heath Pearce, but the bar and Burpo helped preserve a point.

Break Shea rattled the crossbar in the 77th, New England's Kevin Alston saved a ball off the line in the 84th, and Harris headed off the bar in the 88th.

Burpo made his last save on an attempt from Jason Yeisley in stoppage time, diving to push the ball wide of the right post.

Cunningham had a shot deflected and Shea fired high off the rebound, as Dallas remained one of two teams without a win this year. D.C. United lost its fifth in as many games to Red Bull New York, 2-0, earlier Saturday.

Both clubs play again Wednesday, when New England hosts Chivas USA and Dallas visits the Houston Dynamo. New England then visits the Columbus Crew on May 8, when Dallas also wraps up a two-game week at home against D.C. United.
