Banfield wins Apertura title

Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sports Network) - Banfield captured the first title in its 113-year history Sunday, despite losing 2-0 to Boca Juniors on the last day of the Apertura season.

Banfield need a win to clinch the Apertura crown, but Boca left the title race open for Newell's, which wasted the chance with a 2-0 loss to San Lorenzo.

Banfield finished with 41 points, two ahead of Newell's.
