Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sports Network) - A pair of first-half goals from Dario Cvitanich allowed Boca Juniors to clinch the Apertura title with a 3-0 win at home over Banfield on Sunday.
Boca needed just one point prior to the start of the weekend to clinch the crown, and Cvitanich put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute after a scramble in front of the net.
Cvitanich doubled the advantage with a volley from 12 yards that took a slight deflection on its way into the net, while Diego Rivero scored early in the second half on a long-range effort to cap the scoring.
Boca owns an 11-point lead on second-place Racing with two games to play.
The other two matches on Sunday both ended in 1-1 draws as Independiente pulled level with Newell's in the 50th minute through a goal from Martin Benitez, while 10-man Godoy Cruz claimed a point at Belgrano in the 57th when Ruben Ramirez tallied the equalizer.
Racing secured a 2-0 win at Colon despite finishing the match with nine men on Saturday, Atletico Rafaela moved into fourth place with a 2-0 home victory over Velez Sarsfield, Union suffered a 2-0 loss at San Martin and Lanus was held to a 0-0 draw at home by Olimpo.
On Friday, Argentinos Juniors secured a 2-1 win over Arsenal as Santiago Salcedo scored in the 90th minute, with Estudiantes claiming a 3-0 victory over All Boys.
