Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sports Network) - Former Argentina international Diego Simeone has stepped down as coach of Racing, which finished second in the recently completed Apertura season.
Simeone, 41, played 106 times for Argentina during his playing career, and has also coached Estudiantes, River Plate and San Lorenzo in Argentina, as well as Catania in Italy.
He also coached Racing in 2006, and had just returned to the club in June.
His club career included stints at Velez Sarsfield in Argentina, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid in Spain, and Inter Milan in Italy.
