Enschede, Netherlands (Sports Network) - Ajax missed a big opportunity to close to within one point of league-leaders PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, but the Amsterdam club must now turn its attention to finishing off the final five games of the season with maximum points.
The pressure is clearly on manager Adrie Koster's men, who must make up four points on PSV over the remaining five games.
While Ajax had to be disappointed by the 0-0 result, Koster still found positives in sharing the points and believes that his club is still very much in the running to keep PSV from lifting its fourth-straight Eredivisie title.
"We lacked the power to push through," Koster told the club's website. "However, I have to pay the team a compliment. The guys fought for what they were worth. We did all we could, but it wasn't enough to win."
The final stretch for Ajax begins on Sunday with an away contest against Twente.
While the club will need PSV to draw at least two of its final five games to have a chance, they must first take care of their own business and win out to put the pressure on PSV.
Ajax will face tough away contests against Twente and Heerenveen in the next two weeks before finishing up with a home contest against Graafschap, an away match at Groningen and another home game against Heracles.
The club has a lot of work ahead of itself, but it must concentrate on winning Sunday's game before anything else.
PSV will try to take another step towards the title with a home win against Groningen on Saturday, while the day's other matches feature Heerenveen hosting Roda, Utrecht invading Excelsior and AZ Alkmaar playing host to Graafschap.
Sunday's other fixtures include NEC traveling to Venlo, Sparta hosting Feyenoord and second-from-the-bottom Willem II entertaining Heracles.
