Portsmouth likely to land Crouch

Tue 6th, May 2008

Portsmouth, England (Sports Network) - Portsmouth are expected to land England and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch and Southampton's highly-rated winger Nathan Dyer this summer.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is believed to be willing to pay ($16 million) for Crouch who has been only an irregular member of Liverpool's starting lineup this season.

Dyer is out of contract in the summer and is on Redknapp's shopping list even though he has spent much of the second half of the season on the sidelines after suffering knee ligament damage five months ago.

Meanwhile, Redknapp has promised to field a full-strength side for Sunday's final Premier League game of the season against Fulham even though it comes only six days before their appearance in the FA Cup Final.

"We'll get stick if I put a reserve team out but I won't be doing that next week," he said. "No way. I wouldn't disrespect other managers who are in a relegation battle by picking a very, very, very weak team.

"I wouldn't want somebody doing that to me so I wouldn't want to do that to them. It's happened in the past and I think it's disrespectful.

"If we're fit next week then they'll all play. It'll be a good atmosphere with a good crowd and we'll be having a go - I promise you.

"Even on Sunday, if we beat Fulham and Villa get beaten at West Ham we may still get sixth."
