Everton denies Osman reports

Merseyside, England (Sports Network) - Everton has dismissed reports that Leon Osman is set for a spell on the sidelines and insist the midfielder does not require surgery on a long-standing knee problem.

Osman has made nine appearances for the Toffees this season despite being hampered by a knee injury.

The 27-year-old claimed after Sunday's 2-2 draw with Newcastle United that he would consider going under the knife in a bid to cure the injury.

However, Everton have denied subsequent reports that surgery is an inevitable course of action.

"Contrary to reports, Leon Osman has not had an operation," head physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website. "In actual fact the knee has settled down a bit over the last few weeks and so we're monitoring the situation closely."
