Tevez apologizes to Manchester City

Tue 21st, February 2012

Manchester, England (Sports Network) - Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez apologized Tuesday and withdrew his appeal against the Premier League club's claim of gross misconduct, opening the door for his return from a five-month absence.

Tevez was involved in a dispute with coach Roberto Mancini after the Argentina striker refused to warm up in a Champions League match in September at Bayern Munich.

Mancini said after the 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich that Tevez would not play for the club again, but recently said if Tevez would apologized, he would consider welcoming the player back.

"I wish to apologize sincerely and unreservedly to everybody I have let down and to whom my actions over the last few months have caused offense. My wish is to concentrate on playing football for Manchester City Football Club," said Tevez in a statement issued by Manchester City.

City failed to advance in the Champions League, but leads the Premiership and is in the last 32 of the Europa League.
