PSG's Makelele to retire at end of season

Paris, France (Sports Network) - PSG midfielder Claude Makelele, who played at Real Madrid and Chelsea, announced he will retire at the end of the season.

Makelele, considered the best defensive midfielder in recent history, won two La Liga titles and the Champions League with Real, and two English titles with Chelsea.

"It's really my last season," said the 37-year-old Makelele, who twice resumed playing for France after announcing his retirement from international play.

Makelele, who is captain of PSG, has also played for Nantes, Marseille, and Celta Vigo.
