Auxerre, Contout nip Lille

Lille, France (Sports Network) - Roy Contout scored in each half and Auxerre defeated Lille 2-1 on Sunday at Stadium Lille Metropole in France's Ligue 1.

Contout scored in the 19th minute and added the game-winner 72nd. Eden Hazard scored in the 34th for Lille, which lost for the first time at home since the opening week of the season.

Auxerre, which is sixth, moved within two points of Lille for fifth. Lille was overtaken by Marseille, which beat PSG 3-0.

Hatem Ben Arfa, Lucho Gonzalez and Benoit Cheyrou scored at Parc des Princes as Marseille also won on the road. Marseille moved within four points of the top spot, although Bordeaux has played one less game after its trip to Le Mans was postponed Sunday due to weather.

On Saturday, Joris Marveaux scored a pair of first-half goals to lead promoted Montpellier to a 3-1 win over Rennes at the Stade de la Mosson. Montpellier moved level on points with Bordeaux but has played two more matches.

Also Saturday, Lyon kept pace with Montpellier as they recorded a 2-0 win against Nice, Valenciennes downed St Etienne, 1-0, with the lone goal coming from Johan Audel, Lorient got past Sochaux, 1-0, Boulogne lost 1-0 at Monaco, Yoric Ravet scored a goal on either side of halftime as last-placed Grenoble surprised Nancy, 2-0, and Toulouse used a second-half goal from Kevin Dupois to beat Lens, 1-0.
