Lyon, France - Lyon's Champions League hopes for next season appear to be in
serious doubt after the club was held to a 1-1 draw by Brest at the Stade de
Gerland on Sunday.
Yoann Gourcuff put the home side in front in the 37th minute, but Brest got on
level terms and earned a point through Gregory Lorenzi's equalizer 15 minutes
With 60 points on the season, Lyon sits eight points shy of third-place Lille
with three games remaining. A win for Lille against Caen on Monday would
solidify France's final Champions League qualification spot for last season's
Ligue 1 champions.
Sunday's draw pulls Brest out of the relegation zone, at least until Monday
when Ligue 1 play resumes.
Evian 2, Ajaccio 1
Annecy, France - Evian heaped some relegation pressure on Ajaccio on Sunday
with a 2-1 win at the Parc des Sports.
Benjamin Andre's 14th-minute opener was canceled out by Cedric Barbosa a minute
later. They remained deadlocked until the 54th minute when Daniel Wass
converted a free kick to claim all three points for the home side.
Evian has won three of its last four league matches, taking 10 points from that
stretch. Ajaccio, meanwhile, sits just three points above the relegation zone
with two games to go.
