Hamburg completes signing of two defenders

Hamburg, Germany (Sports Network) - Hamburg has completed the signings of Bayern Munich defender Marcell Jansen and Sao Paolo center back Alex Silva.

Germany international Jansen, 22, had only been with Bayern for one season, but had been told that he was not in new coach Jurgen Klinsmann's plans for the coming campaign.

He said after signing a five-year contract with Hamburg: "On Wednesday morning I had a final talk with our coach Jurgen Klinsmann. His assessment of my perspective and status with Bayern was just one more reason for my decision to move to Hamburg."

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Silva moves to the Bundesliga after impressing for Brazil at the Olympic Games.
