Low extension talks put on hold

Mon 8th, February 2010

Munich, Germany (Sports Network) - The German Football Association (DFB) has put on hold talks with Joachim Low aimed at extending his contract with the national team.

The DFB were keen to extend Low's contract beyond the end of this summer's World Cup, but they have failed to reach agreement with the 50-year-old tactician.

Low is believed to have asked for greater control of the Under-21 squad.

"Both parties are eager to continue their collaboration. However, we have failed to reach an agreement on some crucial subjects so far," president Theo Zwanziger told the association's official website.

"Therefore, we have decided to stall contract negotiations for now.

"We want to focus on preparing for the 2010 World Cup. We are eager to travel to South Africa well prepared in order to be successful."
