Nurnberg loses Breno for rest of season

Nurnberg, Germany (Sports Network) - Nurnberg has been rocked by confirmation that on-loan defender Breno will miss the remainder of the season.

Breno was stretchered off during Sunday's 3-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen and subsequent scans have revealed serious knee ligament damage.

The arrival of the Brazilian at the Frankenstadion from Bayern Munich in January had led to an improvement in the fortunes of Dieter Hecking's side.

The surprise victory over title-chasing Leverkusen had lifted a previously ailing Nurnberg up to 15th place in the Bundesliga table.
