Dortmund finished eight points clear of Bayern in the Bundesliga table this
season and underlined its dominance over the Bavarians with a fifth straight
win in all competitions against the German giants.
Shinji Kagawa got Dortmund off the mark quickly as he scored inside of three
minutes from Jakub Blaszczykowski's cross, while Bayern equalized midway
through the opening half from the penalty spot as Mario Gomez was brought down
by Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, who was unable to keep out Arjen
Robben's spot kick.
Bayern then conceded a penalty kick in the 41st minute when Blaszczykowski was
fouled by Jerome Boateng, allowing Mats Hummels to beat Manuel Neuer from the
spot.
The league champions extended their lead to 3-1 in first-half stoppage time
when Lewandowski beat Neuer with a shot from 15 yards, while the Polish
striker tallied his second goal of the match shortly before the hour mark.
Franck Ribery pulled a goal back for Bayern 15 minutes from time, but
Lewandowski finished off his hat trick to cap the win six minutes later.
