Spain ends 2011 on top of FIFA Rankings

Zurich, Switzerland (Sports Network) - In the final edition of the FIFA/Coca- Cola Men's World Rankings for 2011, Spain has once again finished as the top team.

The defending European and World Cup champions finish the year with a comfortable lead at the top of the rankings, while the Netherlands, Germany and Uruguay make up the rest of the top four respectively, with the three teams separated by less than 60 points.

There wasn't a lot of movement in the rankings from the past month since there were only 57 new "A" international fixtures during that time. But both Bosnia- Herzegovina (20th, up 3) and Panama (49th, up 2) still managed to finish with their highest ever ranking.

Mexico (21st, down 1) ends the year as the highest rated team in the CONCACAF region while the United States finishes 2011 in 34th.

The first edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men's World Rankings for 2012 will be released on Wednesday, January 18.
