Warsaw, Poland (Sports Network) - Greece central defender Avraam Papadopoulos will miss the remainder of Euro 2012 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, it was announced Saturday.
The 27-year-old Papadopoulos suffered the injury in the first half of Friday's 1-1 draw against Poland, and was removed from the match in the first half. It was later determined Papadopoulos tore his ACL and also sprained the lateral collateral ligament.
Greece and Poland are level on one point for second place in Group A, two back of leader Russia. The Russians beat the Czech Republic, 4-1, to claim the lead in the group after the opening day.
Group A resumes Tuesday, when Greece plays the Czech Republic and Poland plays Russia.
