Inter signs Mariga from Parma

Milan, Italy (Sports Network) - Inter Milan beat Monday's transfer deadline to sign midfielder McDonald Mariga from Serie A rivals Parma.

The Kenya midfielder had looked set to join former Inter coach Roberto Mancini at new club Manchester City but the move collapsed when he failed to secure a work permit to head to England.

Mariga has now signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at the San Siro after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

An Inter statement read: "Mariga has signed a contract until June 30, 2014 and will wear the number 17 jersey."

As part of the deal, Inter have allowed striker Ludovic Biabiany and midfielder Luis Jimenez to join Parma on loan until the end of the season but with a view to permanent summer transfers.
