Pato battling thigh injury

Milan, Italy (Sports Network) - AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato is facing a race against time to be fit for the second leg of their Champions League last 16 encounter with Manchester United after picking up a thigh muscle injury.

The 12-goal Brazil striker limped out of Sunday's 3-1 Serie A success over Atalanta and is a major doubt for the trip to Old Trafford on March 10.

The Rossoneri trail 3-2 following the first leg at the San Siro last week.

"We will have to wait 24 to 48 hours before knowing the extent of the injury," explained Milan vice president Adriano Galliani.

"Not to have Pato would be terrible. We don't have anyone who can replace him. Without him, we would need to change our tactical set-up."
