Mexico City, Mexico (Sports Network) - Cruz Azul advanced to the final of the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday with a 5-0 thrashing of UNAM in the second leg of their semifinal matchup.
The result gives Cruz Azul a 5-1 aggregate victory after their 1-0 defeat in the first leg.
Christian Riveros opened the scoring in the 36th minute, but it wasn't until the 74th minute that Cruz Azul pulled ahead for good as Horacio Cervantes headed home a corner kick.
UNAM was then reduced to 10 men as Dario Veron was sent off one minute later, and the lead was extended to 3-0 when Adrian Cortes fired home the ensuing free kick.
