Morelia edges Santos in first leg

Morelia, Mexico (Sports Network) - Jaime Lozano and Edgar Lugo scored in the first half and Morelia defeated Santos on Wednesday night, 2-1, to capture the first leg of their semifinal series in the Mexican Apertura playoffs.

Lozano scored the opener after 13 minutes on a shot from well outside the area and Lugo doubled Morelia's lead off a header with just 25 minutes gone.

Oribe Peralta pulled a goal back 6 minutes from time, as Santos escaped with a crucial late goal at Estadio Morelos.

Santos hosts the second leg Saturday.

Queretaro hosts Tigres in the first leg of their semifinal series Thursday.
