Sporting's Moutinho hopes to join Everton

Sun 27th, July 2008

Merseyside, England (Sports Network) - Portugal international Joao Moutinho hopes his transfer from Sporting Lisbon to Everton will eventually go through.

The 21-year-old, who insists the Toffees have already had one bid rejected for him, remains keen to leave the Portuguese side this summer.

"Everton already made a proposal, but Sporting did not accept it," Moutinho told O Jogo. "We will now see what it happens in the next few days, but Sporting already knows my will, I have already transmitted it to the people.

"What is my will? With the reasons that I have, I want to leave Sporting. I hope that an agreement can be found and that a good solution arrives for both parties."

Meanwhile, rumors linking Andrew Johnson with a Goodison Park exit intensified when the striker was left out of the squad that traveled to Chicago to begin their tour of the United States.

Wigan Athletic, Sunderland, Fulham and West Ham United continue to be linked with the former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City hot-shot.
