Maloney returns to Celtic from Aston Villa

Glasgow, Scotland (Sports Network) - Winger Shaun Maloney has completed his return to Celtic, penning a four-year contract with the Bhoys to seal his exit from Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old scored seven times in 33 appearances during his 18 months at Villa Park, but struggled to become a first-team regular and returns to Parkhead in a deal that could eventually be worth $4.6 million.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill had recently hinted that Maloney could be allowed to move on after becoming unsettled.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "It is not that I want to keep every unhappy player. That has been my view, unless it has been so clear that they are not going to get a look-in.

"Interestingly, during the course of my time here that has not been the case with Shaun."

Maloney netted 37 times in 137 appearances during his first spell with Celtic.
