Real Madrid opened the lead over Villarreal, which moved into second on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Real Valladolid. Barcelona is 11 points back in third.

Raul scored the early goal off a Robinho cross. The Real Madrid captain poked the ball with his toe past Racing goalie Tono for the key early goal.
