Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito faces around six months on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury.
The 27-year-old Argentina international complained of pains in his knee after the Champions League semifinal defeat at Manchester United and subsequent scans have confirmed the need for surgery.
A club statement read: "After the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Milito ended with discomfort in his right knee that required clinical exploration and the corresponding tests.
"The results of these tests show that the player has suffered an alteration of the anterior cruciate in the right knee."
Milito joined Barca last summer, having made his name in Spain during a four- year stint with Real Zaragoza.
