Ziganda out as Osasuna boss

Navarra, Spain (Sports Network) - Primera Liga strugglers Osasuna have sacked coach Jose Angel Ziganda after a dreadful start to the new season.

The 42-year-old former Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao striker took charge in Pamplona at the start of the 2006-07 season and guided his side to the semifinals of the UEFA Cup in his first campaign in charge.

However, this term Osasuna are without a win in eight league games and lie 16th in the standings.

A club statement confirmed: "Jose Angel Ziganda has stopped being Osasuna coach, a position he occupied for two complete seasons and six games of the current campaign.

"At the same time, Andoni Goikoetxea also leaves the post of assistant coach.

"Osasuna thanks them for their work during these years at the helm of the first team and wishes them all the best for the future."
