Real Madrid rolls to 6-2 win over Villarreal

Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) - Kaka and Gonzalo Higuain each scored twice, Cristiano Ronaldo and Xabi Alonso added a goal apiece, and Real Madrid bounced back from its Champions League loss to Lyon with a 6-2 win over Villarreal on Sunday in La Liga.

Ronaldo opened the scoring with his 12th of the season, and Kaka and Higuain - who leads Real with 14 goals - combined for the next four. Alonso finished the rout with his first for Madrid.

Real Madrid closed back within two points of Barcelona, which beat Racing 4-0 on Saturday.

Madrid lost 1-0 at Lyon on Tuesday in the first leg of its Round of 16 series, but returned to form in Spain against Villarreal.

Ronaldo notched the opener off a free kick from 25 yards out. He found the top right in the 18th. Higuain was fouled in the penalty box two minutes later and Kaka converted to hand Real a quick 2-0 lead.

Marcos Senna scored in the 31st, but Higuain answered early in the second half off an assist from Ronaldo. Villarreal closed the deficit to one goal again in the 61st when Nilmar scored but Higuain answered again, this time five minutes later off an assist from Marcelo.

Kaka completed his double in the 79th as Ronaldo picked up another assist, and Alonso converted a penalty Ronaldo drew in the 87th to cap the scoring.

Also Sunday, Fernando Llorente scored his 10th of the year as Athletic Bilbao defeated Tenerife 4-1, Pablo Piatti scored in the 87th as Almeria defeated Atletico Madrid 1-0, Victor Obinna scored in the 75th as Malaga edged Espanyol 2-1, Javier Camunas scored in the 86th as Osasuna tied Valladolid 1-1, and Sporting Gijon beat Real Zaragoza 3-1.
