Guardiola agrees to new deal with Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has extended his stay at Camp Nou for another season.

The former Spain international midfielder, who has claimed seven trophies in two years at the club, has signed on the dotted line at the La Liga giants after guiding them to the league title last term. His new deal will run until June 30, 2011.

Guardiola had verbally agreed to renew his terms under former president Joan Laporta in January but, following a meeting with his successor, Sandro Rosell, the deal was settled on Wednesday afternoon.

Guardiola, 39, was a product of Barca's youth system and won six La Liga titles, the Champions League, Cup Winners' Cup and two Super Cups with the Catalan giants during his playing days.
