Chester, PA (Sports Network) - Lianne Sanderson recorded a late goal to give the Philadelphia Independence a 2-1 home win over Sky Blue FC on Sunday.
Philadelphia's Tasha Kai and Sky Blue's Eniola Aluko traded first half goals at Leslie C. Quick Stadium before Sanderson provided the winner in the 90th minute.
The victory helps the Independence keep pace with the Western New York Flash for first place in the Women's Professional Soccer standings.
Based on points and games remaining, the Flash and Independence have clinched the top two playoff seeds by solidifying first and second place in the standings. Both teams have 36 points, but the Flash have an extra game in hand.
The Flash had pulled ahead of the Independence in the standings on Saturday after defeating the Atlanta Beat 2-0.
Marta notched a first half brace to give the Flash all three points as Atlanta continues to struggle.
Atlanta sits in last place in the WPS standings, managing only seven points from its 17 games.
An Abby Wambach brace gave magicJack a playoff berth in a 2-0 road win over the Boston Breakers.
Boston is now battling with Sky Blue FC for the fourth and final playoff spot. Sky Blue currently occupies fourth spot with 19 points, but the Breakers only trail by three points with one match remaining.
