Djokovic moves on in Rotterdam

Rotterdam, The Netherlands (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Novak Djokovic highlighted Tuesday's first-round winners at the $2 million ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.

The world No. 2 Djokovic was leading Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-2, 4-1, when the Ukrainian retired on the indoor hardcourts at Ahoy' Stadium.

Up next for the Serbian Djokovic will be Swiss Marco Chiudinelli.

Sixth-seeded and former Rotterdam champion Mikhail Youzhny barely escaped his first-round match, as he snuck past Kazakhstani qualifier Andrey Golubev 1-6, 7-6 (7-0), 7-6 (7-5). Youzhny needed 2 hours, 18 minutes to advance.

Youzhny titled here in 2007.

An upset came when France's Julien Benneteau bounced seventh-seeded Croat Ivan Ljubicic 6-3, 6-3.

Additional Day-2 wins came for the aforementioned Chiudinelli, Dutch wild card Thiemo De Bakker and Turkish qualifier Marsel Ilhan. Chiudinelli topped 2008 Rotterdam titlist Michael Llodra, who lost despite popping 16 aces, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (8-6).

On Wednesday, second-seeded Russian star Nikolay Davydenko will take on last week's Johannesburg champion Feliciano Lopez of Spain in a first-rounder, while the second round will commence, including a match for third-seeded French Open runner-up Robin Soderling, the 2008 Rotterdam runner-up. The Swedish Soderling will tangle with Dutch qualifier Igor Sijsling.

The 2010 Rotterdam champion will claim $380,000.
