Ivanovic, Jankovic, Davenport advance at Indian Wells

Indian Wells, CA (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Ana Ivanovic, world No. 4 Jelena Jankovic and former top-ranked star Lindsay Davenport were second- round winners Saturday at the $2.1 million Pacific Life Open.

The sweet-swinging 20-year-old Ivanovic survived a second-set charge from Romania's Ioana Raluca Olaru, to post a 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 victory.

The third-seeded Jankovic, of Serbia, drilled American wild card Ahsha Rolle 6-0, 6-2 amid windy conditions on Day 4 of this 12-day event at the beautiful Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Davenport, the southern California native seeded 24th here, was leading Gisela Dulko 6-2 when her Argentine counterpart retired due to a right quad strain. Davenport titled here in 1997 and 2000 and was the runner-up in 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2005.

Sixth-seeded Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli reached the third round by besting Russian Elena Vesnina 6-0, 6-4. Bartoli was last year's Wimbledon runner-up to Venus Williams.

In other action from Saturday, Australia's Casey Dellacqua surprised seventh- seeded Czech Nicole Vaidisova 6-1, 3-6, 6-4; Twelfth-seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva held off France's Aravane Rezai 6-3, 3-6, 6-3; 13-seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy won 6-1, 6-1 over American Melanie Oudin; Russian qualifier Evgeniya Rodina took out 16th-seeded Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano 6-0, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 and 19th-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta pasted Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-2, 6-1.

Russian qualifier Galina Voskoboeva toppled 22nd-seeded Dutchwoman Michaella Krajicek 6-3, 6-3; and German Angelique Kerber took out 29th-seeded Belarusian Olga Govortsova 7-5, 6-2. Italian Tathiana Garbin and Austrian Tamira Paszek also advanced.

The 2008 Indian Wells titlist will collect $332,000.
