Sharapova, Hantuchova pull out of German Open

Berlin, Germany (Sports Network) - Two of the world's top-10 female players pulled out of next week's German Open, as Russian Maria Sharapova and Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova announced their withdrawals.
The third-ranked Australian Open champion Sharapova has an unspecified injury, while the No. 10 Hantuchova has a stress fracture in her right foot.
The three-time major champion and former No. 1 Sharapova has been idle since losing to eight-time Grand Slam titlist Serena Williams in Charleston two weeks ago.
Berlin serves as a clay-court French Open tune-up. The 2008 French Open will get underway on May 25.
