Srebotnik, Medina Garrigues land in Strasbourg final

Strasbourg, France (Sports Network) - Fifth-seeded Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik and reigning champion Anabel Medina Garrigues will do battle in Saturday's final at the $175,000 Strasbourg International, a final clay- court tuneup for the French Open.

Srebotnik barely snuck past Taipei's Yung-Jan Chan 6-1, 6-7 (8-10) 6-4, while the sixth-seeded Medina Garrigues reached her third final here in four years with a 6-3, 6-3 pasting of Swiss teenager Timea Bacsinszky in Friday's semifinals at Ligue d'Alsace de Tennis.

The two-time Strasbourg titlist Medina Garrigues stunned Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo in last year's finale and also titled here in 2005.

The 27-year-old Srebotnik is 3-2 lifetime against the 25-year-old Medina Garrigues, but the Spaniard is 2-1 in their clay-court meetings.

Srebotnik is 4-5 in her career finals and will play in her first title match of the year, while Medina Garrigues in 7-4 in her finals, including an 0-1 mark this season.

Saturday's winner will pocket $28,000.
