Portoroz, Slovenia (Sports Network) - Eighth-seeded Italian Sara Errani continued an impressive run, upending third-seeded Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets while fourth-seeded Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues dispatched unseeded German Julia Goerges in semifinal matches Saturday, setting up the final pairing at the $145,000 Banka Koper Slovenia Open.
Errani upset top-seeded Russian Maria Kirilenko to reach the semis, where she beat Wozniacki 6-4, 6-4. Errani is searching for her second career singles title, having won her first-ever title just two weeks ago at Palermo.
The world No. 29 Wozniacki had dropped only eight games the entire tournament heading into the match, with five of those games occurring during Wozniacki's first-round match against Andreja Klepac.
Medina Garrigues easily discarded unseeded Russian Elena Bovina to reach the semis but persevered to beat Goerges 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 on Saturday. She is seeking her ninth singles title, having posted a victory earlier this year at Strasbourg.
Errani won the only previous match between the two players, a three-set victory at Bali in 2007.
The 2008 Slovenia Open champion will claim $22,900.
