Two other second-round matches saw fifth-seeded Estonian Kaia Kanepi come back to beat Belgian Yanina Wickmayer 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 and seventh-seeded Thai Tamarine Tanasugarn trounce France's Camille Pin 6-2, 6-2.

Top-seeded Dane Caroline Wozniacki will battle Japanese favorite Ayumi Morita in a second-rounder here on Thursday.

The 2008 Japan Open champion will collect $28,000.
