Lisicki rolls in Pattaya opener

Pattaya City, Thailand (Sports Network) - Second-seeded Sabine Lisicki highlighted Monday's first-round winners at the $220,000 Pattaya Open tennis event.

The German Lisicki was pasting Akgul Amanmuradova 6-0 when the Uzbekistani player retired after the first set with a right abdominal muscle strain on the hardcourts at Dusit Thani Hotel.

In other Day-1 action, former top-10 Russian Anna Chakvatadze held off veteran American Jill Craybas 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 and South African Chanelle Scheepers overcame Thai wild card Noppawan Lertcheekawarn 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, 6-4.

Russian Vera Zvonareva defeated Indian's Sania Mirza in last in last year's finale here. Zvonareva will open defense of her title here on Tuesday against fellow Russian Ksenia Pervak.

This week's champion will take home $37,000.
