Hantuchova into semis at Monterrey Open

Monterrey, Mexico (Sports Network) - Daniela Hantuchova survived a three-set battle with Vania King to advance to the semifinals of the $220,000 Monterrey Open on Friday.

The second-seeded Hantuchova bested the American King, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 on the hardcourts at Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

Hantuchova will next meet fellow Slovakian and No. 4 seed Dominika Cibulkova, a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 winner over fifth-seeded Agnes Szavay of Hungary.

In the other semifinal, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia will face Latvian Anastasija Sevastova, who rallied to upend France's Alize Cornet, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Pavlyuchenkova, the third seed, dropped Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-2.

This week's champion will collect $37,000.
