Jankovic advances at Kuala Lumpur

Sat 3rd, March 2012

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Sports Network) - Former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia advanced to the semifinals in a walkover at the $220,000 Malaysian Open Saturday.

Jankovic was scheduled to play Japan's Ayumi Morita, the tournament's sixth seed, at Bukit Kiara Resort, but Morita pulled out of the match because of a right shoulder injury.

Also on Saturday, Greece's Eleni Daniilidou advanced with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Aussie Olivia Rogowska after completing Friday's match that was suspended because of inclement weather.

Daniilidou led 6-2, 3-2 when play was called Friday and Rogowska won the first four games when play resumed to tie the match at a set apiece, but Daniilidou converted on 2-of-3 break chances in the third set to advance.

Jankovic's opponent in the semis will be fifth-ranked Croat Petra Martic, while Daniilidou will face off against Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei.

This week's titlist will earn $37,000.
